Engagement
The interactions people have with a post, such as reactions, comments, reposts and clicks, often expressed as a rate relative to impressions.
Also called: engagement rate, interactions
Engagement covers the things people do with a post beyond seeing it: reacting, commenting, reposting, clicking. Each network counts it slightly differently. For LinkedIn Pages, LinkedIn defines the engagement rate as “the ratio of interactions per impressions on your post”, where interactions include clicks, reactions, comments and shares (LinkedIn Help).
The kinds of engagement are not equal. A reaction costs the reader one tap; a comment costs them a sentence and puts their name under yours. When you read your numbers, a handful of comments from the people you want to reach usually says more than a large count of reactions from people you do not.
Engagement is also something you give. Commenting well on other people’s posts is part of building a presence, which is why Loudquill has a separate Engage feed for it.
